Lay out the three shelves so pot weight stays inside the footprint of the legs. Use housed dadoes or through-dowels rather than relying on screws into end grain. Drill a discreet drainage opening or use waterproof saucers to protect the wood. Dry-assemble on a flat floor and correct any rocking before glue-up. Finish all faces—including undersides—with a water-resistant topcoat, and keep heavy pots on the lowest tier.
