Laminate the round top from straight, dry ash and flatten both faces before routing the circle with a trammel. Build the pedestal from a stable central column and wide, evenly spaced feet; test for tipping before finishing. Attach the top with figure-eight fasteners or elongated holes so it can expand across the grain. Break the lower edge, sand to 180 grit and use a durable low-sheen tabletop finish.
