Build the cabinet from 18 mm birch plywood with a stiff back panel. Support the fold-down work surface using rated folding brackets or two equal-length cable stays; test the hardware above the expected load. Use a continuous piano hinge for even support and add a positive latch when closed. Fasten the cabinet directly into wall studs with structural screws. Seal plywood edges before applying a durable clear finish.
