Use cabinet-grade maple plywood for the case and solid maple for the front edges. House shelves in dados, glue and clamp the case square, then add a full back to prevent racking. Round all exposed corners generously and verify there are no pinch points or protruding fasteners. Anchor the finished shelf to a wall stud with an anti-tip bracket. Choose a cured, low-odor finish suitable for children’s furniture.
