Use 18–20 mm oak for the back, shelf and cubby dividers. A shallow dado locates each divider, while screws driven from the rear reinforce the glue joints. Turn or shape hardwood pegs with a slight upward angle. Mount the unit into at least two wall studs with structural screws; drywall anchors alone are not suitable for coats and bags. Round the front edges and apply two thin coats of water-resistant clear finish.
